My baby (with pictures)

Postby bethany_marie » Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:47 pm

When I miscarried in February, I took pictures of the amazing little baby in my womb. I wanted to share these pictures for others who may wonder what a baby looks like at the point that I miscarried (the baby was 6 weeks along when he or she passed away...I buried Blessing (baby's name) in our yard, among 5 weeping cherry willow trees.

Please do not click the images below if you think they might bother you. There is no blood or anything like that in the pictures, but I know how emotional this is, and some people have a harder time with these images than others.

This is a jewelry box, and a sandwich bag... the baby was the size of a lima bean. Very, very tiny:

Bethany, I am so very sorry for your loss but I thank you for sharing those amazing pictures. It was so beautiful to see your tiny baby and yet so heartbreaking to know how "real" our babies really look even that early. Thank you again and I am sorry for the loss of your little one.

Just brought tears to my eyes. And to think that some people say that they aren't babies at that stage of pregnancy. I would like to hear them say that after looking at how well formed your baby was at that early of your pregnancy. I'm sorry for your loss. (hugs)

These photos were amazing and brought tears to my eyes. I am 8 weeks pregnant and at risk for a miscarriage. I am still hopeful.

Thank you for sharing your photos. I will share them with my husband. The photos really makes you think.

God bless you.

Wow, those pictures are beautiful....and to think some doctors say its not a baby yet, and thousands and thousands are purposely killed every year!
Thank you so much for showing us your baby....I showed my husband, and he was in awe.
Thanks again and God bless!

I am so sorry for your loss!

Thank you soooo much for posting these pics. My second died at around the same number of weeks..(and in Feb actually). I had wanted to miscarry at home but needed a D&C and I really did want to know what he/she might have looked like.

Now I am crying at work but in a healing way..thank you for helping that pregnancy feel more real to me.

Blessing is a lovely name.

Bethany,
I know this is an older post, but I haven't been on the site for some time. First of all, let me say how sorry I am for your loss, I too know all too well the loss of such a tiny life. I lost 2 babies early on also, and then went on to carry my son to term. We thought all was well and tried again only to get to 17wks and not hear a heartbeat any longer (after hearing it 2x's prior). I m/c'd naturally at home (had wanted to go to the hospital, was waiting it out til Monday when my Dr. would be back in town, but the baby passed on Sat.) It was so horrifying to see my lil' baby even more defined since he was 17wks along and now seeing your precious lil' one makes me wish I had taken pics too. I have such a deep love/passion for photography, and I have visited your site w/ all your art/murals/photos and am truly thankful for your beautiful talent! The Lord has blesses you with so many wonderful gifts, including your beautiful babies. Keep up the great work and may the Lord continue to bless you. Thanks for sharing your pics here too.
p.s. you also have inspired me to try out your Once A Month Cooking from your site! What a great idea!!! Loved your site, you should post a link to it under the getting to know each other section of this site, I bet many would love to see all that you do! hugs and blessings, Cyndi

I am so sorry for your three losses.... I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you, especially your last one, with you being so far into the pregnancy. I hope that you have found some healing and comfort since then. Congratulations your your baby Alicia.

Bethany,

I am so sorry about your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to you as you heal from this. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. I think this will help many. It always amazes me how tiny these babies are at 6 wks. It is no wonder that many go misdiagnosed as miscarrying. Unfortunately, some of the diagnosis are correct and babies do miscarry. I do think there is healing and closure going through the experience that you did. I wish I had done that myself.

Thank you again for sharing. I look forward to visiting your web-site. You are truly gifted in photography.

Take care!

How fun Bethany to see that. My daughter is now 5 yrs. old and still calls my bras "milks". It is so funny. She even has here own undershirt that she calls "milks". She will not wear her clothes without it because she wants to be like her mom and big sister who wear "milks". We are enjoying more funny things from my twins. I really like your web-site. How fun it is!

Have fun!

oh wow.. I am not sure what to say, when I saw the pictures I thought "mine is 8 weeks and 5 days" and I wonder how he/she looks like.
I don't know what to do with my baby.. I don't want to flush it down the toilets... I don't own my house so I can't bury my baby either.
