Forth times a charm

If you've had a miscarriage and have a story of hope (i.e. successful pregnancy or any blessing), we'd love to hear it.

Forth times a charm

Hello, I found this site while going through my third miscarriage and it gave me a lot of hope. Last August I suffered my first miscarriage at 8 weeks, the baby had stopped developing at 6wks3days. I got pregnant again in December only to suffer a chemical pregnancy at 4 weeks. I got pregnant again the very next cycle and had hcg drawn at 4 wks and the first test was 104 and the second had dropped to 79. I was devastated and went to the doctor had all the tests that are ran to find the problem (all turned out normal). Dr. prescribed cytotec to complete the miscarriage and I took this at 5 weeks only to have it do nothing. Had another hcg drawn and it was 8000. Totally confused by this point I had an ultrasound at 5wks4days which showed a sac and yolk sac but no baby. Dr. suggested it might be a molar pregnancy and really pushed the d&c. I did not feel he was correct (and he wasn't) so I opted for a repeat hcg and ultrasound. My next hcg was 27000 and the 2nd ultrasound showed a baby measuring about the right age with a slow irregular heartbeat. Nervously we waited out another week and at 8 weeks had another ultrasound that showed the baby had stopped developing at 6wks3days and no heartbeat. Devestated I agreed to have a D&C but with a reproductive specialist who did a hysteroscopy and embryectomy. The doctor was able to visually see the embryo before removing it, and then he removed the embryo by itself for testing. The result of the embryonic genetic testing showed that the baby had an extra chromosome 7 or what is called Trisomy 7. At this point I was sure if I even wanted to try again, but after my doctor reassured us that the chances of this happening again are pretty slim. So, we started trying again. On our second month of trying I get pregnant. Had my first ultrasound at 6wks4days, (1 day older than any of the others) to find a 6wk4day embryo with a strong normal heartbeat. I have since had another ultrasound at 8 weeks showing a healthy growing embryo. I am now 10 weeks pregnant with all the symptoms and could not be happier. I am still on edge but seeing the flicker of a heartbeat helps me sleep a little better at night. I hope this will give others out there hope that it can happen, and to help them stay strong through what is the worst experience in life. Good luck to all of you!!!
