Falling Progesterone... miscarriage???

Falling Progesterone... miscarriage???

Postby raney03 » Tue Sep 16, 2008 11:03 pm

My doctor just called to let me know that my progesterone fell from 45 on 17 dpo to 30 on 28 dpo. I am already taking Prometrium supp. 100mg at night. The doctor said that this indicates a miscarriage.

I had my 2nd u/s yesterday and all that could be seen was a gestational and yolk sac. They sacs measured at 5 weeks, 2 days (when I should be exactly 6 weeks based on conception). There was no fetal pole yet. They sent me back to get more bloodwork to check that. The HCG was 12052 when it should have been 16000.

15dpo = 109
17dpo = 352 doubling time of 28 hours
19dpo = 664 doubling time of 52 hours
24dpo = 4008 doubling time of 46 hours
28dpo = 12052 doubling time of 60 hours

They said my numbers rose but are not doubling correctly anymore. So I am just waiting to miscarry they said... I will go back for another HCG count on Wednesday and then I have another u/s in a week. This is awful.

Anyone have any thoughts or been through this before? What should I expect? Does a drop in progesterone over a week and a half pretty much indicate a pending miscarriage? I have another beta and prog. tomorrow... only time will tell I guess.

Hi Raney~

I think that your HCG numbers look great! After they reach 6000 they won't double in 48 hours anymore. Maybe the Progesterone was a lab error??? And maybe your date of conception was actually a few days after you had sex?? (It happens more than you know!) Hang in there. I think you have a lot to be hopeful for!!!
