CloserToAlice's Story - Not Much Hope Given After IVF

I've never posted on any sort of forum before, so please bear with me.

I'm 39 and have 3 children from a previous marriage.
My husband and I have been TTC for 6 yrs.
It was discovered my right fallopian tube is blocked and my left is ridiculously high. I also had polyps which were easily removed.
We ventured forward with IVF and had 3 Grade A embryos transferred on 6/29.
My first HCG was 7/13 and 622.
The second was 7/20 and 5350.
I've been on progesterone suppositories (Crinone 8%) since the positive HCG.
7/31 was the first ultrasound appt.

The dr repeatedly said "it doesn't look good" and to "prepare ourselves"...due to the fact the baby is measuring 6w1d instead of 7w and she said the yolk sac was "enlarged" at 8mm when the preferred size was under 6mm.
The baby's heart-rate is 113bpm.

She scheduled another ultrasound for 8/7 and that was the end of that.

I have had a previous history of a tilted uterus yet I have no idea if it is still tilted, but I feel as though she was completely apathetic and unsympathetic as well and determined to tell us to expect the loss of our baby.

I was under the impression a heartbeat was a good thing...but she has me rethinking everything and being completely fraught with worry.
I just need a sliver of hope.

Hi there, I've no experience of IVF and how it works but I just wanted you to know that someone has seen your post. I hope you get good news. Fingers crossed for you.

my RE almost fell through the floor. it was fantastic.
tiny human grew from 5.5.cm to 7.7 cm and is measuring 7w4d with a bpm of 155.
considering i'm 8w today, tiny human isn't too far behind now.
she said the yolk sac was still 'enlarged' but didn't give me any numbers.
apparently everything looks good and i've been released to an OB
*whew*
all that worry and so far so good.

Excellent news! Congratulations. I've blogged before about studies showing that ultrasound measurements can be off by up to 4 or 5mm so, really, measurements are not at all concerning here.

Everything sounds great. Going to move you to the Misdiagnosed board because we get a lot of women here after IVF who are misdiagnosed. Because doctors are certain of dates, they tend to act hastily when measurements are off.

Please, keep us updated!
